Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical laboratory procedures, examinations, and tests as defined by New York State public health law.
  • Provide prompt and accurate laboratory test results and prepare products for transfusion in support of patient care.
  • Maintain equipment and records, and perform quality assurance activities related to examination performance.
  • Correlate knowledge and understanding of theory to independently solve problems and answer questions.
  • May be responsible for directing, reviewing, and verifying work of other clinical laboratory personnel and/or students.
  • Perform and verify laboratory tests and/or prepare products for transfusion on acceptable specimens.
  • Follow all institution and department policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Direct, review, and/or verify work of other clinical laboratory personnel, students, and/or nursing staff as assigned.
  • Perform supervisory functions in the absence of the regular supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, required.
  • Qualified as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in accordance with New York State Department of Health Regulations, required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in standard laboratory methodologies, required.
  • Licensure by NYSED as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist required, or licensure-eligible with a limited permit or limited license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician with full licensure received before expiration of limited/ provisional permit, required.
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other nationally recognized certification, preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Frequent typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, talking, visual acuity, seeing/monitor/computer use.
  • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

Pay Range

USD $35.33/Hr. - USD $52.99/Hr.
