Clinical Laboratory Team Lead - Consumer Genetics

Job Responsibilities

Aid the supervisor in managing the day-to-day operations of the Department/Lab.

Generate daily, weekly, and monthly production reports to management.

Support the training of new hires and the development of current employees.

Inform the supervisor of the group's progress, issues, employee performance, and significant factors affecting assigned responsibilities.

Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.

Execute routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.

Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.

Accurately and promptly report test results to ensure quality patient care.

Document and perform preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.

Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.

Assist with specimen processing when needed.

Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to appropriate personal protective equipment guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
• 4+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience
• Preferred: ASCP and/or AMT certifications
• 6+ months of supervising or leading a team

• Understanding of laboratory operations and policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high-volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficiency with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail and strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortable making decisions in a changing environment
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
