Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Support Services Team Leader to join our team at Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital - Ozaukee Campus in Mequon, WI. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the supervision of the day-to-day operations of the core laboratory and blood bank clinical laboratory departments
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Help lead the team in their daily processes and procedures
  • Assist with preparation of laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Oversee routing of specimens to their respective prep areas
  • Encourage process improvements and best practices
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure efficiency and accuracy
  • Resolve any production errors as requested by management
  • Research and resolve production errors while escalating when necessary
  • Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
  • Enforce and manage policies and procedures
  • Perform administrative duties as needed

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • 4 or more years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) OR 2 or more years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLS)
  • Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and relevant state regulations
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • High level of attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • 2 or more years of experience as a generalist
  • 2 or more years of experience in blood bank
  • 1 year or more of experience supervising or leading a team
  • ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Standards

In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may satisfy the education requirement.

Schedule

1st shift; Weekdays 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with rotating weekends and holiday rotation.
