Clinical Laboratory Supervisor - Mass Spectrometry

About the role

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to join our Mass Spectrometry team in Burlington, NC.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Mass Spec department
• Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner
• Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel
• Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate assay coverage
• Ensure all shifts in the department are properly staffed
• Research and resolve production errors, escalating when necessary
• Engage in continuous process and service-level improvements
• Ensure all equipment is properly maintained through Quality Control
• Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
• Evaluate new process improvements and make recommendations
• Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback
• Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency in technical operations
• Ensure all work complies with state and Federal regulations
• Administer and manage policies and procedures
• Process and maintain payroll and personnel files
• Perform administrative duties as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
• 6+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience
• Understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures
• Experience working in a high-volume laboratory environment
• Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and relevant state regulations
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Proficiency with computers and laboratory information systems
• High attention to detail, strong communication, and organizational skills
• Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed

Qualifications

• 6+ months of supervising or leading a team (preferred)
• ASCP or AMT certification (preferred)
• In lieu of the listed education requirements, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may qualify

Monday–Friday, 5:00 PM–1:30 AM
