Clinical Laboratory Specialist - Transfusion

About the role

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring an experienced Clinical Laboratory Specialist to work full time days with Transfusion Services.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes patient data and suggests physician protocol for confirming patient diagnosis
• Acts as a consultant to pathologists, physicians, and other team members
• Identifies needs and implements training to ensure laboratory staff competency
• Captures and coordinates implementation of new laboratory services within all Sentara entities
• Contributes to the organization's success by achieving system, hospital, and departmental goals and objectives

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (required)
• ASCP or AMT certification (required)
• 3 years laboratory experience (required)
• Transfusion experience (required)

Qualifications

• Experience managing laboratory operations
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of transfusion medicine principles

• Proficiency in laboratory equipment and techniques
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
