Responsibilities
- Adhere to laboratory procedures for the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
- Follow established quality control policies and procedures, documenting all corrective actions when necessary.
- Identify and address issues affecting test performance independently or report to supervisor.
- Perform a variety of laboratory procedures, including manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and other disciplines.
- Ensure proper maintenance of instruments and equipment, reviewing accuracy of patient results before release.
- Recognize age-specific differences in test results and collaborate with other laboratories only after proficiency testing results are reported.
- Assist in developing and maintaining laboratory policies and procedures.
- Comply with safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources policies.
- May be assigned as Lead Tech during shifts, assuming responsibility for the section or department.
- May be responsible for tasks related to LIS and/or POCT.
Qualifications
- ASCP certification or equivalent, preferred within 1 year of employment.
- One year of hospital laboratory work experience preferred, but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements as specified in CLIA.
- Current and valid state Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
Pay
Competitive compensation with a reasonable estimate for this role being $35.00. Exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of selection, considering factors such as skillset, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
