Clinical Laboratory Scientist
Responsibilities
- Adhere to laboratory procedures for the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
- Follow established quality control policies and procedures, documenting all corrective actions when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
- Identify and address problems affecting test performance, either independently or by notifying supervisors.
- Perform a variety of laboratory procedures, including manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and other disciplines as introduced.
- Maintain and document the daily, weekly, monthly, or as-needed operation of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Review the accuracy of patient results before releasing or reporting them.
- Recognize and account for age-specific variations in expected results for newborns to geriatrics.
- Ensure proficiency testing samples are analyzed in the same manner as patient samples and collaborate with other laboratories only after reporting results to relevant authorities.
- Perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups from newborn to geriatrics, as necessary.
- Aid in the development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures.
- Comply with department and hospital policies and procedures related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources.
- In the absence of a supervisor, assume responsibility for the section or department during their shift.
- Assist with tasks related to Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Point-of-Care Testing (POC).
- Perform other tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the department manager or director.
Qualifications
- ASCP certification, or equivalent, preferred.
- Minimum two years of hospital laboratory work experience required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1423).
- Current and valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

Pay
Resurrection Medical Center offers competitive compensation, with a reasonable estimate for this role being a flat rate of $35.95/hr. The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of hiring, considering factors such as skillset, years of experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
