General Summary

The Clinical Laboratory Science Student is under the general direction of the Section Supervisor/Manager and Leadership staff, and performs a variety of laboratory tests, under direct supervision, to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Performs

• Operational duties including workflow
• Continuing education workshops and seminars
• Stock levels, ensures stock rotation, and monitors expiration date of stock on hand and data collection
• Laboratory procedures and calculates, transcribes and records test results
• Prepares specimens for analysis and provides results to Pathology
• Correlates results with diagnosis in order to determine validity or results
• Quality Assurance and Quality Control in assigned laboratory areas
• Communicates unusual findings to on site supervisor and/or Pathology and caregivers
• Manages specimens
• Performs maintenance procedures on laboratory instruments and/or equipment
