Clinical Laboratory Extern - Chemistry

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of duties, including but not limited to routine clerical functions, performs computer entry of physician orders, screens phone calls for test information, data entry and retrieval of patient's results, helps support the Laboratory computer system to ensure efficient operation of the Laboratory work flow.
• Performs laboratory tests in one or more of the fields of hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, biochemistry, microbiology, serology, and immunohematology in order to obtain data for use by the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
• Observes laboratory safety regulations.
• Monitors daily quality control and instrument maintenance.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an approved clinical laboratory externship program preferred. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen. CPR certification may be required.
