Summary

Collects blood and urine specimens, manages consumable material restocking, and assists with specimen collection procedures. Manages inpatient and outpatient phlebotomy procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Collects blood and urine specimens, including instructions, education, handling, packing, storage, and shipping to laboratories.
  • Maintains a clean, well-stocked outpatient phlebotomy draw room and other supplies.
  • Performs aliquot procedures, retrieves central storage specimens and reagents.
  • Provides clerical and call center duties such as staffing, filing, document quality control, and surveillance data collection.
  • Trains family and hospital personnel on specimen collection procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • No formal education required.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Entry-level experience not required, but prior phlebotomy experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification from the American Allied Health recommended.
