Summary

Collects blood and urine specimens, manages consumable material restocking, and assists with specimen collection procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Collects blood and urine specimens, including instructions, education, handling, packing, storage, and shipping of specimens.
  • Maintains clean, well-stocked outpatient phlebotomy draw room, phlebotomy supply tray, other supplies and maintenance.
  • Performs aliquot procedures, central storage specimens, and reagent retrieval procedures.
  • Performs clerical and call center duties such as staffing the call center, filing, document quality control, and collection of surveillance data.
  • Trains family and hospital personnel on specimen collection procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • No formal education required.
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Entry level experience not required.
  • Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification from the American Allied Health recommended.

  • Strong phlebotomy experience preferred.
