About the role

Lourdes Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to support our mission of making communities healthier. This role is essential for ensuring accurate specimen collection, processing, and testing to facilitate exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy duties, including venipuncture and capillary techniques using standard equipment (vacutainer tubes, tourniquets, syringes, butterfly needles).
  • Ensure requisitions include accurate patient demographics and required billing information.
  • Transcribe physician orders.
  • Facilitate unobserved collection of urine specimens and interact directly with patients to obtain information, explain procedures, allay fears, and elicit cooperation.
  • Process, label, and store specimen samples for subsequent analysis.
  • Perform and document quality control procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Conduct Med-Competence testing and enter waived testing results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) using manual entry mode.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment, including light cleaning of the work area.
  • Perform specialized specimen collection as requested.
  • Occasionally deliver or pick up specimens outside of the laboratory.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • 2 years of college or an Associate's Degree (preferred).
  • 3+ years of lab-related experience, including 3 months of practicum in a clinical, hospital, or lab setting.
  • Prior waived testing experience (preferred).
  • Certification as a State MA-P (Medical Assistant Phlebotomist) or MA-C (Medical Assistant Certified).

Pay

Hourly range: $18.70–$25.74.
