Responsibilities
- Receive and check clinical specimens for accuracy.
- Accession specimens and enter orders into the laboratory information system.
- Distribute worksheets to medical technologists.
- Ensure results are reported to clients.
- Aid in daily processes in the Pathology Department/Clinical Laboratory.
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, test analyses, reporting, and record-keeping.
- Maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing.
- Adhere to quality control policies and document all activities.
- Identify and address issues affecting test performance or reporting.
- Order and maintain supplies and consumables inventory.
- Document corrective actions when test systems deviate from established specifications.
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable in handling patient specimens from accession to storage.
- Read and follow technical procedures in the Standard Operating Procedure Manual.
- Aid in Quality Assurance (QA) administration.
- Collect and accession sample data if necessary.
- Comply with Federal and State regulations.
- Have good hand-eye coordination, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Show strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
- Display a strong sense of personal accountability and responsibility.
- Work independently and as part of a team, exhibit self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Two (2) years of related experience are required.
