Clinical Lab Scientist, Level 2, Third Shift, Hoxworth Immunohematology Reference Laboratory

Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati, Hoxworth Blood Center, Immunohematology Reference Laboratory (IRL) is recruiting a full-time (100% FTE) Clinical Lab Scientist, Level 2 for third shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex quality control testing on blood and blood components.
• High-level evaluation, review, and interpretation of test results.
• Assist in the provision of data for research and publications.
• Advise customers on methods and procedures to use.
• Communicate and report test results to external and internal customers.
• Clerically process incoming patient blood samples.
• Compose written case reports for hospital patient referrals, when appropriate.
• Prepare laboratory reagents.
• Develop and perform reagent evaluation studies and other special projects with supervisory review.
• Comply with cGMP requirements (in appropriate areas) regarding test interpretation and validity of results.
• Quarantine and discard blood products with positive test results, when appropriate.
• Maintain equipment and clean, safe work area.
• Assume on-call responsibilities as required.
• Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Compensation And Schedule

• Sign on Bonus: $5,000
• Starting pay range (based on experience): $31-38/hour
• Shift: Third Shift (10-hour shifts) - 9:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Shift differential: $4/hour
• On Call: Rotating on-call requirements
