Clinical Lab Scientist III - Lead, Night Shift

At NorthBay Health, the Clinical Laboratory Scientist III, Section Lead reports directly to the Supervisor, Laboratory Director, and the Medical Director, performing accurate and timely laboratory testing in assigned sections. This role may also monitor technicians and other non-independent practitioners, using independent judgment and knowledge.

About the role

As the Lead CLS for the assigned section, this position is responsible for maintaining policies, procedures, and quality control practices under administrative direction. Provides management and accreditation support, fostering a self-directed team approach to customer-driven service initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing in assigned sections.
• Monitor technicians and other non-independent practitioners.
• Maintain policies, procedures, and quality control practices.
• Provide management and accreditation support.
• Demonstrate current knowledge and skill in providing care for patients across all age groups: Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal.
• Adhere to established policies and procedures, exhibiting defined characteristics associated with attendance and punctuality.

Requirements

• B.S. degree preferred; graduation from an approved school of medical technology.
• State of California Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
• ASCP or equivalent certification desired.
• Meets state and federal requirements for supervising high-complexity laboratory testing as outlined in CLIA 88 and the State Title for Laboratories.
• Six years of experience as a registered technologist in an acute care hospital.

Skills

• Phlebotomy, basic medical terminology, typing, math, and computer skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication with patients, co-workers, and all hospital staff.

Pay

Hourly Salary Range: $65.03 – $79.05 (offered rate based on years of experience as a CLS).

NorthBay Health is primarily an onsite organization due to the nature of healthcare. Some roles may allow hybrid or remote work based on business needs, though remote work is not supported in Washington, Ohio, Wyoming, North Dakota, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or outside the United States.
