Under little or no supervision, this position is responsible for Patient Access application(s)/module(s) of Epic. Individuals in this role thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment, adapting quickly to change, multitasking, and demonstrating a passion and eagerness to learn new technologies.

About the Role

The Epic ambulatory application analyst collaborates with and provides expert-level support to counterparts from other applications to successfully meet development and implementation objectives for assigned Epic applications. This role effectively manages competing and changing priorities, serves as project lead for key initiatives, and performs project management duties as assigned. The analyst develops, documents, and adheres to internal procedures used in conjunction with related applications and systems, while interacting professionally with leadership, faculty, staff, and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Workflow: Based on clinical project requests, works with requestors and users to understand and document current workflow, focusing on proposed future workflows optimized for planned application changes.
  • Design and Build: Presents recommended system enhancement opportunities and creative technical solutions for clinic-related scenarios. Uses analytical evaluation skills to identify, propose, build, and demonstrate prototypes of application configuration options for review and approval by project requestors. Performs ongoing maintenance and configuration updates to Epic applications.
  • Test: With minimal supervision, creates test scripts, timelines, and plans for application and workflow changes. Performs testing of clinical information system configuration and processes, including cross-application testing and coordination with other analysts. Coordinates and participates in requestor and user testing of application changes.
  • Support: Provides tier-two support to end-users both remotely and in-person. Monitors, investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves incoming tickets. Serves as a liaison between users and vendors, coordinating system fixes and changes. Coordinates the deployment of application changes with the training team and operations.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with Epic Cadence configuration, build, and support.
  • Demonstrated experience with Epic Referrals configuration, build, and support.
  • Demonstrated experience with Epic Decision Tree configuration, build, and support.
  • Proven ability to work independently and successfully execute multiple assignments simultaneously in a complex environment.
  • Advanced critical and analytical thinking proficiencies.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and follow-up skills.
  • Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting competencies.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or four additional years of build experience is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of directly related Epic experience, including in-depth knowledge of software development/build lifecycles.
  • Epic certification must be maintained per Epic Corporation standards within 18 months of hire. Preferred certifications include: Cadence, Prelude, Referrals.
  • This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

  • Medical: UT SELECT Medical insurance is offered free for employees and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be added to the plan through payroll deduction.     • Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month, usable for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
    • Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
    • Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year.
