Clinical Instructor of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Fellow)

About the role

The Fetal Surgery Fellowship at Keck School of Medicine of USC is dedicated to training fetal surgeons in innovative minimally invasive fetal treatments for complex fetal conditions. The program is led by Dr. Ramen Chmait, who has extensive experience in fetal surgery and has performed over 2000 fetal interventions.

Responsibilities

• Advanced training in fetal diagnosis and intervention, including comprehensive ultrasound evaluation, Doppler assessment, and identification of complex congenital anomalies.
• Progressive responsibility in performing and leading specialized procedures such as amnioreduction, intrauterine transfusions, laser photocoagulation, and minimally invasive fetal surgical interventions.
• Mastery of fetal pathophysiology and management of high-risk conditions, including twin-twin transfusion syndrome, fetal growth abnormalities, and alloimmunization disorders.
• Active engagement in research, developing scholarly work for publication, and contributing to academic conferences and educational initiatives.
• Strong professionalism, effective patient and provider communication, and participation in multidisciplinary care, quality improvement, and healthcare system processes.

Requirements

• Applicants must have an M.D. degree and have completed a U.S. residency program in obstetrics and gynecology and fellowship in maternal fetal medicine.

Benefits

The program provides a competitive annual base salary of $93,646.83, along with other benefits as determined by the University of Southern California.

The fellowship begins August 1, 2026, and lasts for a 1-year term.
