About the Role

The Clinical Informatics Tech plays a key role in optimizing the deployment and utilization of clinical informatics technology to enhance patient care at Asian Health Services. Responsible for the evaluation, implementation, and administration of projects and systems that impact all clinical information systems. Requires ongoing collaboration with vendors as well as clinic staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the support of all aspects of evaluation, implementation, revisions, maintenance, administration, and training of all clinical informatics systems with internal staff, vendors, and the Clinical Operations team, including:
    • Practice Management System
    • Electronic Health Records System
    • Billing, scheduling, and reporting
  • Participate in building, developing, testing, and system deployment activities, such as template, order sets, macros, user interface builds/development/upgrades, etc.
  • Ensure optimal operation of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Practice Management systems.
  • Perform analysis and reporting on provider clinical patient population management indicators and registries.
  • Work with clinicians, Chronic Care assistants, and other staff to collect, analyze, and report on various clinical indicators and registries.
  • Work with clinician customers, including clinical workgroups and other clinical stakeholders, to ensure data integrity of all clinical information systems.
  • Create and maintain accurate organizational databases and registries reflective of organizational needs.
  • Assist in the organization, procurement, and reporting of data related to internal and external audit regulations and compliance.
  • Update policies and procedures about the use of clinical information systems.
  • Act as a liaison between clinical departments and IT/IS, translating business processes into technical requirements.
  • Participate in continued vendor and external system education to improve, assist, and implement organizational upgrades, fixes, and enhancements.
  • Participate in deploying continued software and hardware upgrades, training, and continued education of all personnel and end-users to optimize EHR/PM functionality.
  • Coordinate with the Operations team and various intra- and inter-departmental agencies and organizations for system assessments, upgrades, changes, and improvements.
  • Work with the Clinical Operations team and organizational departments to review, analyze, and create workflow design and redesign to improve EHR/PM.
  • Support internal and external organization procurement of data, analysis of data, and reporting of QI measures as directed by mandates of IS Director/Medical Director.
  • Provide proactive, timely, responsive level 2 support at all sites along with backup level 1 support:
    • Level 1 support: assist end-users who may have difficulty using/interacting with the system.
    • Level 2 support: troubleshoot problems with the EPM/EHR system itself (e.g., system freezes, data not saving).
  • Work with AHS departments to resolve customer issues and requests.
  • Travel to various clinic sites, as needed, to provide support, training, setups, and other necessary services.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff in researching, developing, and selecting new technologies that will improve clinical processes and workflow, including overseeing the adoption and effective use of technologies supporting Electronic Medical Records (e.g., PDAs, laptops, tablets).
  • Foster an environment that promotes trust and cooperation among clients and staff.
  • Enforce clinic policies and procedures, including maintenance of client confidentiality under HIPAA privacy rules.
  • Participate in planning organization-wide activities such as general membership meetings, fundraisers, special clinic days, and other events.
  • Engage in outreach activities, agency advocacy, and serve on ad hoc committees as requested.
  • Attend AHS staff retreats and Board of Directors meetings as required.
  • Participate in agency-wide quality improvement program processes and performance improvement teams.

Requirements

  • Some college or university and a minimum of three to five years of technology and healthcare experience, with two years in a healthcare setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience and understanding of clinical outcomes data and measurement recognized QI benchmarks, multidisciplinary healthcare team models, and population management tools and models.
  • Commitment to public healthcare services and the mission of community healthcare clinics.
  • Familiarity with principles and practices of healthcare, healthcare systems, and medical administration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree preferably in a computer-related field or healthcare-related field.
  • Experience in a nonprofit community healthcare center.
  • EHR/EPM experience.
  • At least three years of experience in community health centers, with knowledge in clinical operations.
  • Experience in systems development and implementation.
  • Ability to analyze systems and practices, develop data collection systems to produce useful outcomes.
  • At least three years of experience at a healthcare center, including understanding principles and practices of healthcare, healthcare systems, and medical administration.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of programming in SQL and other data query languages.
  • High degree of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills along with strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
