Tufts Medical Center is seeking a full-time Clinical Geneticist to join the expanding Division of Genetics. This role offers the opportunity to shape and grow a regional genetics program within an integrated health system, providing diverse clinical care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

About the role

The Division of Genetics at Tufts Medical Center is expanding its clinical program, encompassing inpatient consultations (primarily in the NICU) and outpatient clinics in adult, pediatric, and cancer genetics. As Tufts Medicine continues to expand its cancer, neurosciences, cardiovascular, and transplant service lines, genetics plays an increasingly integral role in delivering comprehensive, multidisciplinary care. The Cancer Genetics Clinic serves as the primary referral center for four regional cancer centers, while the General and Pediatric Genetics Clinics provide specialized care for patients across the Tufts Medicine network.

The integrated health system includes Tufts Medical Center, two full-service community hospitals, and a network of more than 2,000 physicians serving communities from Cape Cod to the New Hampshire border. As the principal teaching hospital for Tufts University School of Medicine, Tufts Medical Center offers outstanding opportunities for education and mentorship in both clinical and didactic settings. The division also serves as a clinical training site for multiple genetic counseling programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care in inpatient (NICU) and outpatient (adult, pediatric, and cancer genetics) settings.
  • Collaborate across specialties to deliver multidisciplinary care within the Tufts Medicine system.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the genetics program, including expanding services across the health system.
  • Teach and mentor medical students and genetic counseling trainees.
  • Engage in scholarly activities and clinical excellence in medical genetics.

Requirements

  • MD/DO with ABMG active candidate status or certification as a Clinical Geneticist.
  • Eligible for or current medical license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Comfortable caring for patients across the lifespan, from pediatrics to adults.
  • Experience or interest in a diverse clinical practice, including cancer genetics and general genetics.
  • Commitment to education and teaching, including work with genetic counseling students and medical students.
  • Collaborative team player who works effectively across specialties.
  • Dedicated to improving patient access to genetics services.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $200,000 to $225,124 annually. Actual compensation will be determined during the selection process and is based on factors including relevant experience, education, internal equity, and academic rank.

Location: Tufts Medical Center in downtown Boston.
