Clinical Faculty, Nursing Programs
About the role
The full-time Clinical Faculty will demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching in a clinical setting. They will teach 3-4 clinical groups per week/term year-round based on need.
Responsibilities
- Teach nursing students delivering nursing care to individuals or groups of individuals.
- Provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students.
- Assume complete responsibility and oversight of and for students in clinical facilities.
- Clarify clinical expectations with students.
- Clarify student patient/client assignments and expectations with clinical facility staff.
- Utilize care planning time to direct students to available resources needed for clinical preparation.
- Assess student knowledge and skill level to ensure safety and optimal care to patients utilizing a variety of teaching and learning pedagogies.
- Utilize pre- and post-conference to allow students an opportunity to share learned experiences, ensuring clarity of the correlation between weekly theory content with clinical objectives and experiences.
- Provide formative and summative evaluative feedback of clinical performance.
- Communicate with School of Nursing theory faculty and/or administration of any student or agency concerns or issues.
- Initiate and implement Student Performance Improvement Plans as needed for student remediation.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to students’ issues or concerns in the clinical setting.
- Orient and maintain current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with the assistance of the agency/clinical personnel.
- Remain in compliance with all clinical health requirements.
- Comply with all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing
- Unencumbered Illinois License or the ability to get an Illinois License
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an RN in a related clinical area within the past 5 years
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with high level of initiative and prudent clinical judgment
Qualifications
- Preferred 1-3 years of experience teaching BSN undergraduate nursing students in either theory or clinical
