About the role

The Clinical Exercise Physiologist will assess, treat, and educate patients in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. Responsibilities include writing exercise prescriptions, developing plans of care, and implementing individual treatment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patient functional abilities and limitations to determine appropriate interventions.
  • Develop a plan of care and exercise goals, as ordered by physician or other referral source.
  • Serve as a resource to new Clinical Exercise Physiologists and reinforce high-quality patient care.
  • Independently run phase I, II, III, cardiac rehabilitation and pulmonary rehabilitation classes.
  • Implement individualized exercise plans considering physical and age-specific needs and abilities.
  • Re-evaluate treatment plans as needed to ensure safety and maximum patient benefit.
  • Follow protocols with minimal deviation for patient assessments and exercise prescription.
  • Provide individualized home programs with clear instructions and educate patients and families on pathology, discharge guidelines, risk factor modification, and exercise.
  • Present educational material to the interdisciplinary health care team to maintain clinical relevance and application of best practices.
  • Independently document patient treatment according to professional and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain strong competency in policies and procedures and all required documentation.
  • Make independent judgments based on specialized knowledge and confer with leadership on unusual situations.

Requirements

  • Completed a Cardiac Rehab Internship of 300 or 600 hours.
  • Uploaded BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • At least 2 years of experience in healthcare settings, preferably in Cardiac Rehab or Stress Test setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise/physiology or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in cardiac and/or pulmonary rehabilitation and/or stress testing.
  • Minimum of 600+ hours internship in cardiac rehabilitation or equivalent clinical/patient care hours.
  • Knowledge in cardiac/pulmonary physiology, management and treatment of chronic disease, health promotion, ECG and 12-lead interpretation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Strong interpersonal communications and human relations skills.

Skills

  • Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology or related field preferred.
  • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) clinical exercise physiologist (CEP) certification preferred.

$24.32 - $36.48 / hour

Schedule

Full time, 32 hours per week. 4 8-hour shifts. Monday through Friday, 7am-3:30pm.
