Clinical Educator - Therapist

About the Role

The Clinical Educator – Therapist is a clinical professional who actively participates in designing, implementing, and overseeing therapeutic programs within a healthcare setting. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, training other therapists, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure programs effectively address patient needs and goals. This role also contributes to ongoing program evaluation and improvement.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Clinical Services Director in developing new therapeutic programs, including defining goals, selecting interventions, and creating program structure and protocols.
• Develop orientation and educational goals aligned with the CEO and Director of Compliance to accomplish organizational missions.
• Review and update new hire training to ensure clinical staff are prepared to work independently.
• Train and supervise other therapists on program implementation, ensuring fidelity to program design and quality of care.
• Collect and analyze data to monitor patient progress, evaluate program effectiveness, and identify areas for improvement.
• Specialize in areas such as mental health programs, developmental disabilities, pediatric therapy, and geriatric therapy.
• Provide clinical services orientation, reeducation, competency, and refresher training to applicable staff.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients to identify needs, strengths, and areas for improvement.
• Ensure therapists design individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, incorporating evidence-based practices.
• Ensure therapists provide direct therapeutic interventions, including individual and group therapy sessions.
• Assist patients and caregivers with educational needs, problem resolution, and health management.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and other therapists, to ensure coordinated care.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance, safety, infection control, and environmental procedures per regulatory requirements.
• Uphold the organization's ethics and customer service standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master’s degree required.
• Licensed as LPC, LMSW, or LCSW authorized to practice in the State of Texas.
• CPR and SAMA certification (or obtained within 30 days of hire).
• Three years of progressively responsible full-time experience as a licensed clinical therapist.
• Three years of acute psychiatric care experience desired.
• Must be 21 years or older.

Skills and Qualifications

• Knowledge of patient rights and laws pertaining to mental health and regulations for treating emotionally disturbed patients.
• Understanding of theories, principles, and techniques of group and individual psychotherapy.
• Familiarity with symptoms and behavior patterns of emotionally disturbed or mentally ill patients.
• Strong understanding of therapeutic interventions and evidence-based practices.
• Ability to design and implement treatment plans, collect data, and analyze results.
• Knowledge of treatment procedures, interventions for acute psychotic and non-violent crises, and medical/psychiatric emergency procedures.
• Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology, particularly in child, adolescent, or adult psychiatric populations.
• Familiarity with psychopharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications.
• Experience in clinical practice with diverse populations.
• Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to technical staff.
• Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
• Ability to assess educational needs and design responsible curricula.
• Working knowledge of established care models in education program development.
• Technical leadership skills within area of expertise.
• Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care programs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, and grasp.
• Ability to perceive object attributes such as size, shape, temperature, and texture by touch.
• Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word, including conveying detailed instructions accurately.
• Hearing to perceive sound with no less than 40 dB loss at 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz, with or without correction.
• Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.
• Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
• Minimum standard of visual acuity to complete administrative tasks and inspections.
• Ability to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise and interruptions.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
• Work is predominantly indoors, with minimal exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
