Clinical Educator

About the Role

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a Clinical Educator to collaborate with department managers and/or unit educators in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the orientation and continuing education of nursing staff. The role involves assessing trends in patient care, healthcare delivery systems, nursing education, and nursing practice to determine their impact on the goals of the Nursing department.

Responsibilities

• Assess individual learning needs of nursing personnel consistent with job descriptions.
• Implement planned educational experiences utilizing self or other content specialists and document the cost of implementation.
• Provide ongoing evaluation of educational programs and appropriately alter and/or modify program content as needed.
• Promote high standards of nursing care through role modeling and educational programs consistent with nursing policy and procedures, incorporating ANA standards.
• Plan and develop clinical competencies, utilizing reliable and valid methods to validate competency and learning.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate education to meet regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate mandatory and department-specific education.
• Monitor resource consumption and redesign educational processes to maximize resource utilization.
• Evaluate the process, outcome, and impact of educational activities and revise as necessary.
• Evaluate clinical practice outcomes and safety issues for staff and patient populations.
• Lead or facilitate special projects to enhance professional nursing practice.
• Serve as a consultant to managers and/or unit educators to facilitate problem-solving related to staff education.
• Actively participate in decision-making, creating change, and developing knowledge in the nursing department and at professional levels.
• Actively monitor/review quality data to ensure standards of care are met related to the cardiac patient.
• Collaborate with service line leaders to ensure program success.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license within the state of practice.
• BSN required, Master’s preferred.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of varied acute care nursing experience.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.
• Cardiac nursing experience is desired.
• Certified CPR, PALS, ACLS instructor or becomes certified within one year.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Additional languages preferred.

Schedule

8:00 am - 4:30 pm -- flexibility in scheduling is required, due to the nature of the position and staff educational needs.

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is located just minutes east of Dallas and south of Garland/Rowlett on Hwy 80 at Collins Road in Sunnyvale. Many team members live in Forney, Mesquite, Garland, Balch Springs, and Rockwall areas with a short commute.
