About the role
The Alice L. Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM) seeks experienced, motivated, and dedicated leaders and educators to participate in the design and delivery of an innovative four-year medical school curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and integration of all content tied to the pre-clerkship clinical education, including the development of clinically relevant narratives and various assessment tools.
- Design, revise, deliver, and coordinate the clinical curriculum as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Promote the integration of the clinical education curricular thread across all curricular phases.
- Create learning objectives related to respective clinical sciences and map them to the curriculum.
- Use appropriate metrics and assessment methods to ensure that students meet those objectives.
- Work collaboratively with faculty and staff for continuous quality improvement of courses, sessions, activities, and assessments.
- Serve as course director or co-director for a course within the organ systems curriculum.
- Co-develop and facilitate ARCHES cases as needed.
- Collaborate with Assistant Dean for Clinical Education and Director of Clinical Integration Education to develop and deliver pre-clerkship clinical curriculum.
- Participate in professional development programs to enhance teaching, educational, and other skills needed to execute their responsibilities.
- Actively serve in leadership and group membership within the medical school (e.g., Curriculum Committee, Admissions Committee, etc.).
Qualifications and Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree, required.
- Current or prior clinical practice as a physician within the United States, required.
- Greater than two (2) years of experience in an accredited undergraduate medical education or post graduate level education programs, preferred.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in medical education, including curriculum development, formulating and editing assessment tools, and delivery in the field of clinical education, preferred.
- Experience designing, delivering, and evaluating integrated clinical education courses, preferred.
- Familiarity with an array of educational technologies and active learning methodologies, preferred.
- Experience with different assessment methods, preferred.
- Experience with different adult learning methods (e.g. CBL, PBL, TBL, small-groups, simulation, etc.), preferred.
