About the role

The Education Coordinator is the organization-wide educator. By maintaining competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in requirements for acute care hospital and all applicable facility-wide healthcare settings, the Education Coordinator designs, develops, plans, and teaches educational programs for the employed, contracted, affiliated, volunteer individuals and others as identified. The educator has the authority and responsibility of supervising all orientation programs and has indirect supervisory responsibility for new employees when involved in educational programs or processes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in requirements for acute care hospitals and facility-wide healthcare settings.
  • Design, develop, plan, and teach educational programs for employed, contracted, affiliated, volunteer individuals, and others as identified.
  • Supervise all orientation programs and provide indirect supervision for new employees during educational programs or processes.

Requirements

  • Active Iowa RN license (single-state or compact) required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited professional Registered Nursing Program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience with clinical focus preferred.
  • Prior experience as a nurse educator preferred.
