Clinical Director – Operating Room

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Director to lead clinical operations in an ambulatory surgery center. This role will oversee pre-op, OR, and PACU operations, with a strong focus on safe and efficient surgical workflows, patient care, staff leadership, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive OR/perioperative experience and a proven leadership background in an operating room or surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily clinical operations across pre-op, OR, and PACU
• Lead, mentor, and manage nursing and clinical staff
• Ensure safe and efficient surgical workflows
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and administration
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, state, and federal standards
• Maintain accreditation and survey readiness
• Develop and monitor clinical policies and quality improvement programs
• Oversee infection control, risk management, and patient safety
• Manage staffing, scheduling, competencies, and clinical education
• Monitor OR operations and identify process improvements
• Assist with clinical budgets, supplies, and equipment
• Investigate patient safety events and grievances
• Promote high-quality, patient-centered care

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Tennessee RN license or eligible compact license
• Extensive OR and perioperative nursing experience
• Leadership experience in an OR or perioperative setting
• Experience overseeing surgical staff and daily OR operations
• Strong knowledge of pre-op, intra-op, and post-op care
• Experience working with surgeons and anesthesia teams
• 3-5+ years of clinical leadership experience
• Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and survey processes
• Current BLS/ACLS certification
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN or advanced nursing degree
• CNOR or CASC certification
• Joint Commission survey preparation experience
• Previous ambulatory surgery center leadership experience
