About the role

The Director of Emergency Services Clinical Operations oversees the daily activities to ensure the achievement of business and clinical goals. They are responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures, preparing and monitoring budgets, and managing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures
  • Prepares and monitors budget
  • Manages staff
  • Maintains standards of practice for nursing
  • Actualizes the vision, mission, values, and balanced scorecard performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center
  • Serves as a key member of the Emergency Services and Capacity Management Committees
  • Leads and manages the clinical operations of the Emergency Services
  • Accountable to the AVP of Emergency Services for the overall management of activities while preserving the safety and satisfaction of patients and staff
  • Accountable to the Chief Nurse Executive, Nursing Executive Leadership Staff, and Members of the Nursing Executive Council in a shared governance model
  • Ensures quality, compassionate, culturally competent, effective and efficient patient care is delivered in compliance with the standards and regulations of the Montefiore Health System and Regulatory Agencies
  • Communicates regularly with the AVP of Emergency Services, Emergency Services Chairman, Directors of Nursing, Chief of Services, nursing staff, referring physicians, medical staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to identify, monitor and solve issues and problems related to the Emergency Services

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Nursing is required
  • 8+ years of experience, preferably in critical care nursing, and 5-7 years of leadership experience required
  • NYS RN License and Registration required
  • Ability to think logically and sequentially, understand redesign concepts, and demonstrate ability to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Skilled in finance, operations, strategic planning, marketing, human resources, and computer technology
  • Effectively influences others, develops others, fosters teamwork, and possesses initiative and strong customer service skills
  • Planner and organizer who can manage time and resources efficiently and focuses on the integrated delivery system as it relates to capacity management and the admission & discharge process
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
