About the role

Camp Baer is a new retreat-style substance use disorder treatment center opening in November 2026 in the wooded hills outside Morgantown, West Virginia. Wise Path Recovery Centers, operated by Ascension Recovery Services, provides integrated behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment grounded in evidence-based, high-quality clinical care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the clinical services of Camp Baer and ensure patients receive high-quality, ethical, evidence-based, person-centered treatment.
  • Establish and maintain a strong therapeutic culture focused on dignity, accountability, connection, and long-term recovery.
  • Ensure clinical programming is evidence-based, trauma-informed, individualized, and aligned with organizational standards.
  • Oversee clinical assessments, treatment planning, individual therapy, group therapy, family engagement, discharge planning, and continuing-care coordination.
  • Promote multiple pathways to recovery and an individualized approach to treatment.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and organizational leadership to implement the clinical model.
  • Develop programming schedules, group structure, clinical workflows, documentation expectations, and department processes.
  • Recruit, interview, on-board, and develop clinical team members.
  • Establish clear expectations for clinical quality, documentation, accountability, and patient experience.
  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve clinical services as the program grows.
  • Provide or coordinate clinical supervision consistent with West Virginia licensing requirements and organizational standards.
  • Coach clinicians in assessment, treatment planning, clinical interventions, documentation, professional boundaries, and case conceptualization.
  • Conduct regular individual and team supervision.
  • Support professional development and continuing education.
  • Evaluate clinical performance and address performance or competency concerns promptly.
  • Foster collaboration among clinical, medical, nursing, peer support, admissions, and operations teams.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of specialized clinical tracks designed to meet the needs of distinct patient populations.
  • Ensure specialty tracks are clinically meaningful and integrated into the patient’s individualized treatment plan rather than operating as stand-alone programming.
  • Develop programming that recognizes the unique clinical, occupational, family, identity, and reintegration challenges that may accompany substance use disorders among professionals and veterans.
  • Ensure clinical pathways for patients experiencing co-occurring substance use disorders, trauma-related disorders, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other behavioral health conditions.
  • Collaborate with medical, psychiatric, nursing, peer support, case management, and community partners to ensure coordinated treatment for complex co-occurring conditions.
  • Evaluate clinical outcomes and patient feedback to continuously strengthen specialty programming.
  • Ensure clinical documentation is timely, accurate, clinically meaningful, and supports the patient's treatment journey.
  • Maintain strong standards around the clinical “golden thread” from assessment through treatment planning, services, progress, and discharge.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable West Virginia requirements, organizational policies, accreditation expectations, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement, utilization review, chart review, incident review, and performance-improvement activities.
  • Aid leadership with regulatory surveys, accreditation preparation, corrective action plans, and ongoing readiness.
  • Ensure clinicians maintain required licenses, credentials, competencies, and training.
  • Maintain a visible presence within the program and remain connected to the patient experience.
  • Treat patients with dignity, compassion, respect, and professionalism.
  • Address clinical concerns, grievances, treatment barriers, and complex cases.
  • Create an environment that balances excellent clinical care with the restorative, retreat-style experience envisioned for Camp Baer.
  • Model trauma-informed leadership and reinforce healthy professional boundaries between team members and patients.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field required.
  • Active or eligible professional clinical license in the State of West Virginia appropriate to the services provided. Independent clinical licensure strongly preferred.
  • Experience providing substance use disorder and/or co-occurring mental health treatment required.
  • Prior clinical leadership, supervisory, or program-management experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in residential, inpatient, withdrawal management, or other structured behavioral health environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of clinical assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, case conceptualization, and evidence-based behavioral health treatment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, professional ethics, patient rights, and clinical documentation requirements.
  • Experience with Joint Commission or other behavioral health accreditation standards preferred.
  • Ability to supervise and develop multidisciplinary clinical professionals.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
