About the Role

The Clinical Dietitian Senior is a lead team member who provides comprehensive, safe, and ethical medical nutrition therapy to patients, families, and other clients in inpatient or outpatient settings. This role leads quality improvement activities and advances the practice of dietetics through professional leadership activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, and delivers accurate medical nutrition therapy using established standards and evidence.
  • Incorporates principles of culture-competence and family-centered care.
  • Trains and observes RDs, interns, and students in their clinical practice and provides feedback to enhance understanding and compliance.
  • Pursues ongoing professional growth and skill development.
  • Actively contributes to rounds, care conferences, and care coordination.
  • Collaborates and promotes teamwork to achieve positive patient and client outcomes across the organization and/or within the department.
  • Proactively connects with Clinical Nutrition team members and other disciplines in the organization to identify Clinical Nutrition-related issues, potential solutions, and opportunities for quality and process improvement.
  • Serves as a role model for standards of behavior, NFPE process, advanced interviewing, education, and/or counseling strategies and mentors team members and support their professional growth, skill development, responsibility, accountability, quality improvement and research process.
  • Ensures compliance with established regulatory standards and healthcare regulatory requirements by identifying and following policies and procedures for the nutritional care provided.
  • Accurately documents patient care and tracks time/activities for use with benchmarking, billing, and/or productivity in accordance with department standards.
  • Assists in leading advocacy efforts, policy and procedure reviews, and quality improvement or research initiatives; collaborates with committees, task forces, workgroups, and CN department peers to gather and apply data that enhances CN services and outcomes; facilitates professional engagement by mentoring RDs and supporting their involvement in associations, research, and publications.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years clinical nutrition required. Cardiology experience preferred.
  • EDUCATION – Bachelor's Degree (prior to 2024 graduates). Master’s Degree required for 2024 (and beyond) graduates.
  • CERTIFICATION(S) – CNSC or CSPCC preferred.
  • LICENSURES – Registered Dietitians (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) adhering to the Commission of Dietetic Registration guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years clinical nutrition experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or related field.
  • Master's Degree in Nutrition or related field preferred.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification.

Skills

  • Strong clinical skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of clinical nutrition practices and regulations.

Pay

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Hourly Range: $33.12 to $49.68. Effective June 2026, this position will transition from exempt to non-exempt. As a non-exempt role, team members will be eligible for overtime pay and may be eligible for applicable shift differentials in accordance with Children’s Hospital Colorado policy.

Conditions

  • Eligible Incentives: This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $20,000 for qualified, external candidates.
