Clinical Dietitian - Inpatient
About the role
As our Clinical Dietitian, you will be a central figure in establishing medical nutrition therapy standards and delivering direct patient care within a healthcare system recognized as a top hospital by U.S. News & World Report.
Responsibilities
- Expertly counsel patients and caregivers
- Develop and implement nutritional care plans
- Meticulously document interventions
- Monitor diet orders
- Actively participate in quality assurance
- Educate staff and the community
- Leverage the Virginia Mason Production System to optimize patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Registered Dietitian status (RD / RDN) from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Washington State Certification
- Specialty board certifications as needed per area & assignment
- Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, and behavioral sciences
- An understanding of therapeutic nutrition
- A working knowledge of safety and sanitation practices for food science
- Counseling skills, the ability to negotiate, work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment and strong math skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent problem solving skills
Preferred
- A Master's Degree
- Two (2) years of experience in an acute care hospital; OR an advanced degree plus one (1) year of acute care experience and one (1) year of outpatient experience
