Clinical Counselor

We seek an energetic, approachable, and experienced counselor who is passionate about working with college-aged and non-traditional students. The clinical counselor will play a crucial role in supporting the emotional and psychological well-being of ASU students within a Step Care Model serving both on-campus and online students who reside in the state of Colorado.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily operations of the ASU Counseling Center.
  • Conduct initial mental health assessments to determine the appropriate level of care.
  • Use clinical judgment to triage and assign students to the appropriate level of care within the Step Care Model.
  • Provide culturally responsive mental health services.
  • Offer short-term individual counseling and crisis intervention.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions and support groups for specific concern populations.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with external providers when necessary for long-term and specialized care.
  • Design and deliver educational programs and workshops on mental health topics.
  • Collaborate with other campus departments to promote mental health awareness, wellness, and prevention efforts.

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications:
    • MA/MS in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
    • Licensure-eligible and hold a temporary licensure permit (LPCC or equivalent).
    • Minimum of one year of experience working directly with a college-aged student population.
    • Ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly, effectively, and collegially with employees, students, and the community.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Licensure in the State of Colorado (LPC or LCSW).
    • Experience and expertise in planning and implementing prevention and awareness activities on a college campus.
    • Experience supervising clinicians-in-training and other staff.
    • Demonstrated cultural competence in diverse student populations.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $47,400 - $66,400 for a 0.83 FTE (pro-rated to $39,342 - $55,112 for a 10-month contract paid over 12 months).

Schedule

This is a 10-month contract position (August–May) working during the academic year.
