Clinical Counselor
Job Description and Duties
Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least (1) Permanent, Full-Time, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
Serving as an ancillary part of a patient’s treatment team, LPCCs are responsible for providing Individual and Group Therapy; Mental health screenings; Utilizing evidence-based therapeutic interventions; and collaborating with the patients’ Treatment Team to address any treatment related concerns and provide critical observations related to patient care and treatment provided.
- Knowledge of human development, as well as the principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of mental health disorders that prevent successful adjustment to community living.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Work any shift and schedule, including but not limited to, evenings and weekends in a variety of settings throughout the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital.
Knowledge Of
- Principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions
- Community organization principles
- Human problems and symptoms that prevent successful adjustment to community living
- Scope and activities of public and private health and welfare agencies
- Current trends in mental health, public health, substance use disorder treatment and public welfare, and Federal and State programs in these fields
Minimum Requirements
- The position requires a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired.
- The position requires a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
- The position requires Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
- The position requires a(n) Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

Working Conditions
Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
