About the role
The School of Nursing at Malcolm X College (MXC) offers an associate’s degree in Nursing and a Practical Nursing Advance Certificate Program. The Clinical Coordinator - Nursing is responsible for coordinating clinical placements for nursing students at various sites.
Responsibilities
- Functions as a liaison between clinical affiliates, nursing faculty, and nursing program administrators.
- Works collaboratively with nursing faculty and clinical site administrators to provide clinical rotations.
- Maintains student health records and ensures compliance with clinical agency requirements.
- Facilitates and problem-solves clinical placement for students.
- Coordinates the gathering of agency-specific documentation for student placement.
- Serves as a liaison between the clinical agency and the School of Nursing to ensure orientation requirements are met.
- Maintains records of clinical placement and students' completion of clinical requirements.
- Conducts clinical site visits to assess appropriateness of clinical activities and students' clinical practice experiences.
- Aids in the annual clinical site evaluations of clinical affiliates as part of the contract/affiliation agreement renewal process.
- Collects data and prepares reports on clinical sites for inclusion in accreditation, grants, and related reports.
- Adheres to HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
- Performs administrative duties as assigned in support of the Nursing Department.
Qualifications
- An Advanced certificate in practical nursing or an Associate’s degree in Nursing or higher from an accredited college or university.
- A state of Illinois licensed practical nurse (LPN) or registered nurse (RN) with an unencumbered license.
- Five years of work experience in clinical nursing.
- Ability to work varied hours which may include evenings and/or weekends.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of program accreditation standards and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment.
- Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in handling sensitive situations.
- Ability to use critical thinking to guide decision-making.

$81,085 - $89,193.50
