Responsibilities
- Support ongoing clinical operations to ensure efficient, compassionate, and patient-centered care delivery.
- Collect and document patient health information, histories, vital signs, and clinical data accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR) system under physician direction.
- Review medical records to determine appropriate visit.
- Assist physicians during examinations, treatments, and clinical procedures.
- Conduct patient interviews and assessments, including providing pre-operative instructions and preparation guidance.
- Create and pend orders in EMR (e.g. radiology, lab orders).
- Education patients on post-operative care instructions, symptom management, medications, and follow-up care plans.
- Perform clinical duties including venipuncture, injections, specimen collection, preparation, and processing.
- Ensure all clinical competencies and responsibilities are completed accurately and in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Manage telephone, MyChart, secure messaging, and in-person patient triage while escalating concerns to appropriate clinicians as needed.
- Respond to patient inquiries, in-basket messages, and symptom-related concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Obtain prior authorizations for medications, procedures, and specialty services.
- Complete and process FMLA, disability, and other patient-related documentation forms.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, and ongoing professional development activities.
- Maintain inventory and ordering of medical equipment, surgical instruments, and clinical supplies.
- Maintain exam rooms to ensure cleanliness, organization, and adequate stocking of necessary supplies and materials.
- Attend staff meetings, patient support meetings, and continuing education programs relevant to the specialty area.
- Collaborate with leadership, including the Division Administrator and Practice Operations Manager, to monitor risk management incidents, medication errors, and patient safety concerns.
- Collaborate with clinical research staff in the conduct of clinical trials.
- Travel between clinical locations as required to support operational needs.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Requires a bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience.
- Minimum 2-4 years related experience.
- Minimum 2-4 years related experience.
- Previous oncology experience is preferred.
- Electronic Medical Record experience (Epic Preferred).
Qualifications
- Must have a current New York State Registered Nurse License and maintain and renew as necessary.
- BLS Certified.
