Serves as lead consultant to ensure alignment, buy-in, and coordination of diverse stakeholders to drive successful initiatives and projects within clinical settings across one or more technical areas or workstreams.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a lead consultant to ensure the alignment, buy-in, and coordination of diverse stakeholders to drive successful initiatives and projects within care delivery or clinical settings across one or more technical areas or workstreams:
    • Makes significant contributions and/or provides leadership to high visibility projects to identify and resolve issues of strategic importance to the organization.
    • Identifies and ensures representation and inclusion of appropriate stakeholders and team members.
    • Builds rapport and partnerships with stakeholder teams, third party vendors, and senior management to produce results that are outcome driven.
    • Works with stakeholders to set the strategic direction of initiatives, develop goals, and set the prioritization of deliverables.
    • Discusses involvement of key processes (e.g., quality management, project change management, communication) and facilitates decisions necessary for the delivery of initiatives.
    • Communicates tough issues to stakeholders while maintaining an independent perspective; provides expertise and recommendations.
    • Develops written materials for senior executives and other key clients; makes formal presentations and provides reports to various senior level audiences.
  • Develops requirements, or leads a team of consultants in the development of requirements, for complex or specialized clinical, process, or system solutions across one or more technical area(s):
    • Partners with stakeholders and cross-functional teams as appropriate.
    • Leverages multiple requirements gathering methodologies to identify clinical, functional, and non-functional requirements.
    • Leads and oversees the development and documentation of comprehensive case studies to assess the costs, benefits, and ROI of proposed solutions.
    • Collaborates in the development of results-driven action plans.
    • Leads team members in the development process as appropriate.
  • Provides expertise and drives the development and implementation of clinical initiatives, systems, and/or processes to a desired future state:
    • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of how current processes impact clinical operations across multiple technical areas.
    • Maps current state against future state processes.
    • Identifies the operational impact of requirements on upstream and downstream solution components.
    • Provides options and recommendations to senior management and clinical stakeholders on how to integrate solutions and deliverables with current systems and processes across regions or technical areas.
    • Identifies and validates value gaps and opportunities for process enhancements or efficiencies.
  • Develops clinical or care delivery strategy and ensures organizational alignment and prioritization of clinical initiatives:
    • Develops and determines goals and priorities with management team sponsors.
    • Defines, develops, and evaluates performance metrics, standards, and methods to establish success.
    • Partners with senior stakeholders, often with competing/conflicting objectives, to ensure cohesive and reachable metrics.
    • Refines strategic plans and performance metrics as appropriate.
    • Manages complex initiatives or portfolio to ensure delivery of measurable results and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Serves as a lead advocate of continuous learning and professional development:
    • Keeps abreast of industry practices, standards, and benchmarks.
    • Attends and presents at roadshows, conferences, and speaking events.
    • Leads the ongoing enhancement and innovation of clinical consulting practices, standards, and methods across KP.
    • Serves as an advocate to ensure continuous learning and improvement is championed as a people strategy.
    • Provides training and guidance to stakeholders as appropriate.
    • Provides ongoing coaching to build a continuous improvement mindset and build capabilities that drive results.
  • Manages complex, highly visible projects or project components:
    • Coordinates and partners with clinical leadership and key stakeholders.
    • Assembles teams based on project needs and team member strengths.
    • Consults in the development, analysis, and management of project plans, including proposed project structure, approach, and work plan.
    • Negotiates time commitments and resources; coordinates project schedules and resource forecasts.
    • Proactively monitors and identifies project or clinical initiative risks, issues, and trigger events; develops mitigation plans and strategies.
    • Resolves or escalates risks or issues as appropriate; provides leadership to project teams, as well as manages the work of outside consultants when needed.
  • Leads change management activities associated with care delivery or clinical initiatives:
    • Engages stakeholders to obtain support and buy-in for changes.
    • Partners with senior management, project champions, and clinical owners to communicate and align improvement initiatives with strategic objectives.
    • Determines appropriate change management method and approach.
    • Ensures stakeholders embrace a change management mindset, understand intent and purpose, and foster a culture of change.
  • Performs or partners with analysts on complex data analyses to drive care delivery or clinical initiatives:
    • Identifies appropriate data analysis tools and approach to assess performance.
    • Designs analytic plans and determines suitable data gathering and analysis methods (e.g., process observation, hard data, etc.).
    • Defines data requirements and obtains customer agreements, including customer requirements as appropriate.
    • Conducts analyses and performs experimental tests to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical solutions.
    • Identifies and alleviates risks through data-driven analysis.
    • Prepares and shares data/analysis summaries and incorporates into action plans as appropriate.
  • Participates in vendor management as required:
    • Reviews vendor performance levels; ensures service level agreements are met.
    • Manages vendor invoices.
    • Partners with Procurement, Legal, and/or clinical leadership teams to develop service level and/or scope of work agreements as appropriate.
  • Monitors compliance of work activities by ensuring project plans and team members adhere to KP, departmental, and/or clinical policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Care, Public Administration, Public Health, Statistics, Science, or a directly related field and minimum eight (8) years progressive experience in consulting, data analytics, or project management in clinical operations or a health care environment.
  • OR Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Care, Public Administration, Public Health, or a directly related field and minimum six (6) years progressive experience in consulting, data analytics, or project management in clinical operations or a health care environment.
  • OR Minimum eleven (11) years progressive experience in consulting, data analytics, or project management in clinical operations or a health care environment, or a directly related field.

Pay

$161,800 - $209,330 / year. Actual base pay determined at offer will be based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.

  • Full-time
  • 40 hours per week
  • Day shift: Monday - Friday, 08:00 AM - 05:00 PM
  • Flexible worker location must align with Kaiser Permanente's Authorized States policy.
