Responsibilities
- Apply medical knowledge through assessment and synthesis of claim file information and offer balanced conclusions
- Concise communication (written and verbally) of complex medical issues in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment
- Collaborate with internal resources to determine pertinent medical documentation needed to accurately assess file direction
- Collaborate with external resources to establish partnerships, discuss treatment plans, and clarify functional capacity
- Provide coaching to non-medical staff to increase medical knowledge
- Operate with a sense of urgency and flexibility to meet the needs of a rapidly changing environment while meeting performance standards for quality and quantity of work
- Demonstrate capacity and thirst for learning, developing broad business and leadership skills, openness to diverse ideas, and self-awareness of strengths and areas of development
- Maintain professional certifications, stay abreast of new trends in the medical field, and complete other required educational activities
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing and active RN License (BS degree strongly preferred)
- 3+ years clinical experience preferred
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $53,300.00 - $100,700.00. Actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location, and experience.
Unum is headquartered in Chattanooga, TN, with international offices in Ireland, Poland, and the UK, and significant operations in Portland, ME, and Baton Rouge, LA, plus over 35 US field offices.
