About the role

This role is based fully on site. Full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a choice of 8am–4pm or 9am–5pm. Permanent contract. Salary: Competitive.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, coordinate and review patient care and discharge planning across adult and paediatric services, starting from admission.
  • Act as a key liaison between patients, families, clinicians and third-party payers to support safe, effective and timely care.
  • Complete utilisation reviews and obtain authorisation for treatment and ongoing care.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary discussions and coordinated care and discharge decisions.
  • Promote patient advocacy, effective resource use and high standards of documentation and communication.

Requirements

  • Registered with the NMC as an Adult Nurse, with substantial post-registration experience and demonstrable exposure to paediatric care.
  • Extensive inpatient bedside nursing experience across both adult and paediatric services is essential—candidates must have hands-on clinical experience in both settings, not one or the other.
  • Strong background in inpatient nursing or, alternatively, significant experience within the healthcare insurance sector in a clinical or case management role.
  • Proven expertise in utilisation review and managing complex discharge planning pathways.
  • Senior-level clinical experience, typically at Band 6 or above (or equivalent), with demonstrable clinical leadership, service coordination, team supervision and/or management responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to lead complex clinical decision-making, influence multidisciplinary teams and coordinate care across multiple stakeholders.

Qualifications

NMC registration as an Adult Nurse, with substantial post-registration experience and exposure to paediatric care.
