Clinical Associate - Pediatrics ICU - FLEX

About the role

Transform healthcare by joining Carilion Children's Pediatrics as a clinical associate. Provide basic clinical services and clerical support to the unit health-care team.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and assist patients and visitors with registration.
• Aid with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Coordinate patient flow using department/unit specific software and Intranet.
• Schedule patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
• Review medical records for outstanding orders and notify nurses of stat orders and medication changes.
• Clean unit-based equipment and gather supplies as needed.
• Transport patients, supplies, and equipment within the facility.
• Participate in chart audits and unit-based patient care tasks.
• Interact with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals.
• Answer incoming calls via telephone and patient call system.
• Route calls as needed and take messages.
• Provide scheduling support for department/unit staff.
• Operate and maintain general office equipment.
• Order department/unit supplies and equipment and stock/organize supplies.
• Support software system monitoring and maintenance.
• Maintain cleanliness of waiting and break rooms and perform safety/environmental rounds.
• Assist with regulatory compliance in the unit.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• No previous experience required.
• No specific licenses, certifications, or registrations required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required if in a critical access area.
• AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills.
• Organized and self-motivated.
• Knowledge of office procedures and equipment.

Pay
