Job Summary
9 CST is a 20 bed Medical Cardiac Progressive Care Unit within the Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) that serves patients 18 years and older. Our progressive care nurses’ practice in a setting where patients require complex ongoing assessment, multiple therapies, and interventions. This position is full time, working the day/evening/night shift with every other weekend and rotating holidays.
What You’ll Do
- Welcome and assist patients and visitors with registration.
- Absorb patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Coordinate patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet.
- Schedule patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
- Review medical records for outstanding orders and notify nurse of stat orders and medication changes.
- Clean unit-based equipment and gather supplies needed to operate equipment between patients as needed.
- Transport patients, supplies, specimens, and equipment within the facility.
- Perform unit-based patient care tasks for patients.
- Participate in the sitter process.
- Interact with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals.
- Answer incoming calls via telephone and patient call system. Route calls as needed and take messages.
- Provide scheduling coverage support for department/unit staff scheduling, including backup coverage.
- Operate and maintain general office equipment.
- Order department/unit supplies and equipment and stock/organize supplies.
- Serve as a resource for department/unit software systems.
- Maintain cleanliness of waiting and break rooms and perform safety/environmental rounds.
- Assist with maintaining regulatory compliance in unit.
Qualifications
- Education: High school graduate or GED.
- Experience: None.
- Licensure, certification, and/or registration: None unless the following: Certified Nursing Assistant is required in the Critical Access Area. AHA BLS-HCP required.
Compensation
Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.

Please note - employee must attend mandatory orientation classes during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm for the first 2 weeks of employment. All classes require to be in person except for 2 online classes.
