Clinical Assistant Professor (HS), Psychiatry

About the role

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, in collaboration with the Transplant Surgery Service, is seeking a full-time psychiatrist as an attending in their Consultation-Liaison (CL) psychiatry service.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the leader of the Mental Health team overseeing provision of mental health services by fellows, residents, psychologists, social workers, case managers, and nurses
• Provide direct clinical services, such as consultations, follow-up and pharmacologic and psychologic treatment
• Lead and participate in interdisciplinary meetings
• Teach trainees, and members from other disciplines
• Engage in scholarly activities, and mentor others in scholarly activities, such as professional presentations, manuscript publications, and research
• Evaluate prospective transplant donors and recipients and provision of any needed mental health services prior to the transplant; evaluate and provision of any needed mental health services after the transplantation
• Participate in administrative work and attend administrative and clinical meetings and rounds
• Supervise psychiatric services by fellows and residents, provide direct clinical services, teach trainees, engage in scholarly activities, and mentor others in scholarly activities, such as professional presentations, manuscript publications, and research
• Present at conferences, interview medical school and residency applicants, mentor medical students and residents, participate in committee work in the department, hospital and the university, as well as community outreach

Qualifications

• Completed and accredited residency in general adult psychiatry
• Completed and accredited ACGME approved Consultation Liaison Fellowship
• BC/BE in Adult Psychiatry and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry
• New York State Medical Licensure
• DEA Certification
• Clinical Consultation Liaison Psychiatry is a must
• Interest in collaborative research, possible grant writing and seeking funding endeavors
