Clinical Assistant Professor: Full Time Faculty, PreLicensure Nursing

About the Role

This full-time faculty position in the Pre-Licensure Nursing program involves ongoing curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation of classroom and laboratory instruction. Faculty members participate in student advising, registration, and serve on Nursing and University committees to support the continued evolution of the Nursing Program. Expertise in women's and children's health is required, though candidates with other specialty experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate the highest level of professional integrity and commitment to professional nursing.
• Maintain an active presence on campus, including availability for student counseling, advising, and participation in activities that promote student engagement.
• Develop courses, write and analyze exams, and meet assigned course load and contact hours each semester/year (minimum three full days per week on campus).
• Attend mandatory faculty meetings, university/departmental functions, and informational sessions; ensure punctuality and attendance for all teaching commitments.
• Hold a minimum of three posted office hours per week and be available for additional student appointments as needed; provide mid-term and end-term progress updates.
• As a Course Chair for courses with clinical/laboratory components, manage curriculum planning, syllabus development, test creation, scheduling, and communication with clinical instructors and facilities.
• Provide clinical instruction in laboratory settings.
• Participate in committees, including preparation, writing, and editing of accreditation and self-study reports for accrediting bodies and the state.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution (Doctorate in progress).
• Unencumbered New York State Professional RN license.
• Current CPR certification for the Professional Rescuer or Health Provider.
• Immunizations as required by clinical affiliates.
• Self-directed, organized, and able to work with variable schedules.
• Hearing and visual acuity, as well as manual dexterity.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, and electronic medical records.
• Knowledge of current clinical practice, evidence-based nursing, and basic principles of education.
• Strong communication skills with students and faculty.
• Ability to plan and organize lab sessions for students in various nursing courses.
• Experience using technology in education.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD or EdD in Nursing or a related field with extensive scholarly contributions (required for tenure track consideration).
• Prior university teaching experience.
