Clinical Assistant Professor

About the role

The successful candidate will lead research in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, develop a research program aligned with the department's strategy, and actively participate in teaching and research collaborations.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality care with maximum patient comfort and safety in the clinic and hospital settings.
• Treatment of conditions such as: Removal of Diseased and Impacted Teeth, Anesthesia, Dental Implants, Facial Trauma, Pathologic Conditions, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery, Facial Pain, Correction of Dento-facial Deformities, and Birth Defects.
• Evaluate patient medical/dental history and analyze radiographs or 3D scans.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan treatment goals.
• Document patient data and ensure detailed notes of appointments are maintained in electronic records.
• Instruct patients on oral health, pre-operative preparation, and post-operative care routines.
• Teach OMFS residents, fellows, and dental/medical students through lectures, seminars, clinical instruction, and operative training.
• Participate in academic leadership, curriculum enhancement, and departmental strategic initiatives.
• Contribute to scholarly activity, including research, publications, presentations, and academic collaborations.
• Represent the department at educational committees, faculty meetings, and institutional academic functions.

Requirements

The applicant must have completed a four-year graduate degree in dentistry, a minimum four-year hospital surgical OMS residency program with an excellent track record in research in the specialty or related areas, and be eligible for board certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Qualifications

• M.D., D.M.D./M.D., or equivalent medical degree.
• Completion of accredited residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical surgery, teaching, and academic engagement.
• Eligibility for required medical licensure and credentialing within the institution.

Skills

Experience with outpatient anesthesia, hospital-based surgical procedures, trauma, pathology, reconstructive surgery, or related areas of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
