Clinical Assistant Professor

About the role

Provide direct patient care in the School of Dentistry Faculty Dental Practice (60%). Oversee students to ensure emergency patients receive excellent care in the Urgent Care Clinic or in the Comprehensive Care Clinics. Serve as faculty in the Comprehensive Care Clinics as needed, overseeing students’ comprehensive treatment of patients. Continually evaluate the quality and timeliness of care provided to patients. Promote and support efforts to foster a humanistic environment that advances and encourages an inclusive environment in the division, department, and school. Promote a collaborative clinical educational environment between dental, dental hygiene, and dental therapy students. Other duties as assigned (40%).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Faculty Dental Practice.
• Oversee students in the Urgent Care Clinic and Comprehensive Care Clinics to ensure high-quality emergency and comprehensive patient care.
• Evaluate the quality and timeliness of patient care.
• Promote inclusivity and a humanistic environment within the division, department, and school.
• Foster collaboration among dental, dental hygiene, and dental therapy students.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• DDS, DMD, or recognized international equivalent degree.
• Minnesota dental license or eligibility for licensure by start date.
• Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, working effectively and collaboratively with multiple groups and diverse constituencies, and promoting inclusivity in the workplace.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficient at managing or participating in an oral health care team that supports efficient patient care.
• Ability to teach all clinical aspects of general dentistry, including demonstration of techniques and assessment of student performance.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in clinical practice.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in all aspects of digital dentistry for restorative care.
• Experience teaching/supervising students in an academic setting.
• Competence in performing extractions, periodontal therapy, and managing dental emergencies.
• Advanced Education in General Dentistry or General Practice Residency Certificate.

Pay

Pay Range: $160,000 - $180,000, depending on education, qualifications, and experience.
