Clinical Assistant

Essential Functions

• Calls patients out of the waiting rooms and rooms the patient in appointment order
• Prepares patients to be seen by ensuring patient is properly dressed in gown or shorts
• Checks if patient requires X-rays, staple or suture removal, cast removal prior to seeing Physician
• Straights exam rooms and places clean sheets on each exam table
• Ensures clinical areas are prepared to see patients
• Prepares schedules per physician preference
• Prepares injections, but not to take the place of the person running the office with the physician
• Keeps accurate/updated injection log
• Prepares anything extra per nurse/doctor preference
• Maintains clinical areas by monitoring and stocking exam & shared supply rooms and maintaining appropriate inventory along with monthly expiration date maintenance
• Aids in injections, aspirations, etc. but not to take the place of the medical assistant or nurse
• Ensures all documentation is on chart electronically including but not limited to labs, EKG results, therapy notes and medication history
• Closes rooms at the end of office by stripping sheets and disposing of all trash on counters
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments as needed
• Assembles surgery packets/education information for medical assistants/nurses
• Disposes of waste properly
• Maintains oxygen tanks
• Covers for other associates when on vacation, leave, etc.
• Works in Urgent Care on a Saturday rotation schedule
• Orders all clinical supplies as needed, puts up supplies when they are delivered, receives inventory into the Envi system (Clinical Assistant Coordinator only)
