Job Summary

Demonstrate expert administrative knowledge and clinical skills. Coordinate admissions and transfers of patients. Manage staffing needs and staffing issues with appropriate leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage patient capacity workflows
  • Oversee, assign and communicate staffing assignments / plans
  • Lead bed capacity and staffing meetings
  • Round with unit CCL/Charge RN to obtain updates on unit staffing, throughput, and support needs
  • Resource to complete difficult IV starts
  • Liaison for escalation to Director and Administrator
  • Respond and support inpatient codes through EPOCH testing, obtaining IV access through PIV or I/O insertion, coordinating transfer to appropriate care area, ensure adequate resources are present, crowd control, and Code Blue debriefing for Code Blue, Rapid Response, Inpatient STEMI/Stroke code, and Behavioral Rapid Response and ED level II Trauma activations.
  • After-hours scheduling and coordination of all call teams for Anesthesia, OR/PACU, Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, and Endoscopy
  • Initiate and lead Emergency Management response
  • One Call coordinates provider to provider communication related to patients that need transfer to Sanford Bismarck.
  • One Call also supports transfers out of facility needing flight transfer.

Qualifications

  • 1 year Clinical Care Leader experience
  • Minimum of 2 years inpatient medical experience within the last 5 years
  • Proficient in advanced clinical assessment, effective communication, conflict resolution, staff leadership, and decisive problem-solving

24 hours per week (2, 12 hour shift), rotating day/night shifts. 2 holidays per year. 16-18 assigned weekends per year. Weekend assignments are made for a year at a time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
  • Currently holds an unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific certifications.
