About the role
This field-based role covers Columbus, OH, and surrounding areas. Reporting to the Senior District Manager, the Clinical Account Executive (CAE) serves as the strategic leader of their territory, combining deep clinical expertise, strategic account planning, and business acumen to improve patient outcomes while advancing Multiple Myeloma brand objectives and business goals. The CAE builds trusted partnerships with customers, thinks like a business owner, and collaborates across the oncology ecosystem to create long-term value for patients, customers, and the organization, while maintaining compliant, high ethical standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive territory business plan aligned with brand strategy and local customer needs.
- Build trusted relationships with hematologists, oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, administrators, and key account stakeholders.
- Demonstrate deep scientific and clinical expertise while delivering compliant, customer-focused engagements.
- Partner effectively with cross-functional colleagues to deliver coordinated customer experiences.
- Continuously evaluate territory performance using data, customer insights, and business analytics to optimize execution.
- Maintain the highest standards of integrity, compliance, and professionalism in every customer interaction.
- Complete all AbbVie-required training and maintain adherence to company policies and OEC/Legal procedures.
- Continuously develop clinical, business, and leadership capabilities.
- Meet healthcare industry representative credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory, including background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization/vaccination.
Requirements
- 5+ years of sales experience in pharma/biotech.
- Oncology/hematology experience required, preferably in Multiple Myeloma.
- Desire and ability to take on larger roles faster than peers.
- Competitive selling skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a highly collaborative, team environment.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Persistency and grit with a strong track record of succeeding in a challenging environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements.
- Regular business travel by air or car is required.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in Multiple Myeloma or hematologic malignancies.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Account management experience in any industry.
- Specialty pharmacy experience.
- Healthcare industry experience, especially working with patients or consulting healthcare companies.
- People management or other leadership experience.
- MBA or other advanced degree.
