Clinic Veterinary Assistant
About the role
The Role As a Veterinary Assistant on our Clinic Services Team, the core of your responsibilities revolves around keeping both the animals at our shelter and animals in the public happy and healthy. You'll be assisting in prep and recovery for animals in surgery and providing wellness care and guidance to the public.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the intake of all animals scheduled for surgery, ensuring all paperwork is completed by owners and all vaccines are current, and explaining any high-risk factors to owners and having them sign the appropriate release form.
- Prepare all animals prior to surgery and assist in the surgery room.
- Monitor all animals recovering from surgery.
- Assist veterinarians with physical exams and administering vaccines.
- Provide excellent customer service to all visitors and clients.
Requirements
- One to two years of vet assistant related experience and/or training.
- Enthusiasm for the mission of the Humane Society of Charlotte and helping animals and people in our community.
- A reliable mode of transportation.
- Comfortable interacting with dogs and cats.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Current CPR certification.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills.
