About the role

Performs complex and varied administrative and clinical assignments. Serves as a personal contact for physicians, staff, and outside departments to address problems, issues, or concerns. Assists in the management of clinical unit operations and supervises clinical staff, including Medical Assistants and Non-Nursing Care Coordinators and Schedulers. Reports to the Clinic Manager of the Las Vegas Clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Back Office Clinical Supervisor.
  • Supervises at least two full-time staff or equivalent, coordinating personnel actions such as performance evaluations, time-off requests, disciplinary actions, hiring, and terminating staff.
  • Generates daily room/staff assignments and arranges for staff coverage as needed.
  • Trains all clinical staff to ensure compliance with hospital policies.
  • Oversees special programs/projects for the department, including the USC Workers Compensation Program, and assists in developing clinic procedures and protocols.
  • Acts as a liaison between supervisor and subordinates for communicating information, assignments, priorities, and special requests.
  • Monitors the status of pending items and follows up as needed.
  • Ensures exam rooms and treatment areas are adequately supplied and maintained by support personnel.
  • Promotes security by alerting appropriate personnel for safety, fire, and other unsafe situations; reports unusual occurrences to supervisor and responds to emergencies using standard protocols.
  • Participates in monitoring and evaluating the quality and appropriateness of patient care; contributes objective data regarding the performance of other clinical staff members as requested.
  • Maintains a safe environment in accordance with standards, policies, and safety regulations; ensures compliance with infection control policies.
  • Coordinates staffing to ensure breaks and meal periods are covered; provides coverage as needed.
  • Schedules clinic and surgery appointments; coordinates authorizations for surgical appointments and manages block time.
  • Balances cash drawer daily per USC policy; ensures copays and other cash payments are collected and all batches are closed out at the end of each clinic day.
  • Performs other administrative/analytical work, including preparing meeting agendas as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–5 years in a related role.
  • Lead or supervisory experience.
  • Clinical and office management combined with experience in general administration.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to utilize effective, appropriate, and diplomatic oral and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable with computers and medical terminology.
  • In-depth knowledge of all insurance types, including government health programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialized/technical training or Medical Assistant Diploma/Certificate from an accredited program.

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) – if no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date (required within LA City only).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.

Pay

The annual base salary range for this position is $68,640.00 - $112,370.00.
