Duties And Responsibilities
- Greet patients and guests when they arrive
- Request insurance and photo ID
- Verify personal and insurance information is correct
- Scan new cards and update insurance information as necessary
- Verify annual consent forms have been signed
- Collect copays and outstanding balances
- Print statements and receipts for payments
- Answer basic billing questions or refer them to the billing office
- Notify therapist when patient is ready to be seen
- Answer patient phone calls, schedule or reschedule appointments, transfer calls as necessary
- Call back patients who have left a voice message or transfer to appropriate party
- Oversee daily schedule and try to fill open slots with patients on a recall/waitlist
- Set up patient payment plans and process credit card payments on 5th and 15th each month
- Balance cash drawer daily and reconcile with system deposit report; ensure cash drawer is locked in office safe or drawer away from the front desk after hours
- Manage all vendor deliveries; open and/or deliver to appropriate personnel
- Clean reception area and front office
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- At least one (1) year of experience in a medical practice or facility preferred
- Comfortable asking for money and addressing patients with compassion
- Problem solving skills; resourcefulness
- Experience with electronic medical records/billing system
- Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to take initiative and problem solve with minimal direction
- Attention to detail
- Calm under pressure
