About the role
This position is located in the Breast Imaging Department with a schedule of 8 hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 4 hours on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. The role performs both administrative and clinical functions to support smooth and efficient clinical service or practice operations under close to general supervision. Duties are repetitive and routine, varying by department, and do not involve patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine administrative and clerical duties relating to a clinical service or physician practice office.
- Make patient appointments and maintain appointment records.
- Greet and assist patients.
- Answer telephones, assist callers with routine inquiries, and schedule appointments.
- File materials in patient folders and print appointment schedules.
- Process patient billing forms and scan documents to patient medical record/LMR.
- Call for patient medical records and laboratory test results.
- Open and distribute mail or faxes.
- Type forms, records, schedules, memos, etc., as directed.
- May be required to accept co-payments.
- Handle, screen, and/or take messages related to prior authorizations, referrals, and verify registrations for accuracy.
- May monitor patients in the waiting room and respond to any needs for information.
- Assist in patient flow processes.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required (experience cannot substitute for this requirement).
- 0-1 year of healthcare office experience required.
Skills
- Basic proficiency with all Office Suite applications.
- Knowledge of office operations and standards, including filing, copying, scanning, printing, and faxing.
- Ability to use phone systems and manage non-routine phone calls, solving routine issues as appropriate.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including composing/editing emails, memos, and letters.
- Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to follow established protocols and work within systems.
